Hi all! My name is Sarah Jones! My students like to call me Ms. "J" (Ms. Jones is "too formal"). I am a recent alumna undergraduate and graduate student of Appalachian State University, in Boone, NC. As a graduate student, I studied reading education, and I got my bachelor's degree in special education with a concentration in general curriculum. I love my middle school kiddos, but man those little ones really grew on me in the past year! In fact, I just accepted a position as a resource room teacher and inclusion teacher with an elementary school right outside of Richmond, Virginia! With that being said, I love all things children's books!! Fiction, nonfiction, poetry, graphic novels, picture books; you name it! I hope this blog gleans some inspiration for how to integrate diverse reading and writing in your own classrooms!
I grew up in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains of Georgia, so I'm biased to the mountains. The Rockies are breath taking but the Appalachian Mountains are my home. However, in the past year my partner and I have found a new home in Richmond, VA and we are very excited to move there in August, 2020! I have a dog niece and her name is Violet Jones. She is my pride and joy, and I love her more than anything else! She's the sweetest long girl with a beautiful singing voice. Her favorite songs to sing to are Sake of the Sound by Front Country and I Fall Apart by Post Malone. Enjoy some sweet pictures of her!
